Test the workflows the operator will actually use
Within the RFQ, ocpp should be defined as the charger-to-CSMS protocol family. For networked commercial ev chargers, list the exact workflows that matter instead of accepting the acronym as a feature: boot and configuration, authorization, transaction start and stop, meter values, availability, resets, alarms, remote actions and the required smart-charging or firmware functions.
Include failure cases. Disconnect the network, restart the charger, restore communications, reject an authorization, interrupt a session and verify how buffered records are reconciled. Save charger and CSMS logs against each result.
Protect interoperability after launch
- Record the approved charger firmware, CSMS version and configuration baseline.
- Require regression testing before firmware, security-certificate or CSMS changes.
- Define who owns endpoint credentials, certificates, SIMs, logs and configuration backups.
- Treat optional functions and certification profiles separately from the OCPP core implementation.
