A national milestone
In April 2026, China's National Energy Administration formally designated Wuhan Yangluo Port as one of the country's first batch of national vehicle-to-grid (V2G) demonstration projects. sunfull — Wuhan SUNFULL SUNFULL Electric, the parent of SUNFULL NEW ENERGY — was selected as the equipment provider for the project's MW-class bidirectional shore chargers, which will support electric water taxis and ferry vessels operating on the Yangtze.
The selection caps a multi-year R&D effort by sunfull's power-electronics team and reflects the company's deepening commitment to V2G as a strategic technology direction. For SUNFULL and our overseas partners, the implications are significant: the technologies, control firmware, certifications, and field-proof points generated by this pilot are directly transferable to marine V2G and heavy-vehicle V2G deployments anywhere in the world.
What the pilot covers
The Yangluo Port deployment includes:
- Three MW-class bidirectional DC shore chargers (single-port up to 1.2 MW, with the option to aggregate two ports for 2.4 MW peak)
- Integrated container-format BESS for transient buffering and peak-shaving on the port-side feeder
- Full ISO 15118 plug-and-charge support with the participating vessels' battery management systems
- OCPP 2.0.1-based central management with State-Grid coordinated dispatch for ancillary services
- A two-year operational data-collection program across charge cycles, grid-services events, and battery state-of-health
Why this matters for international customers
The single biggest gap in marine V2G adoption to date has been the lack of MW-class bidirectional charger references with sustained operational data. Most port authorities outside China — Rotterdam, Singapore, Hamburg, Long Beach, Dubai — are running pilots of their own but face a small short-list of qualified suppliers. Field-proven equipment with a sovereign-pilot reference unlocks tender eligibility in those markets.

- Reference design transfer. The bidirectional power architecture, liquid-cooling design, and grid-services control logic developed for Yangluo are the basis for our 2026-2027 international product roadmap.
- Operational data. Anonymized pilot data on cycle efficiency, response latency, and battery degradation will be made available under NDA to qualifying overseas customers evaluating similar projects.
- Pilot-project participation. For port authorities or operators ready to run their own pilots in 2026-2027, we offer a structured engagement model: jointly defined success criteria, hardware delivered at sample-order pricing, on-site commissioning by the same engineering team that delivered Yangluo, and a multi-month operational data-collection partnership.
